There are two types of Record Label / Music Publishing Audits.
Here we review the contracts and all the statements provided by you. This gives us an idea of how effective the label or publishers royalty account systems are. If the Desk Top Audit shows serious discrepancies, then a full audit would likely be worthwhile. At this point we develop our plan for a full audit.
This would cover all the elements we have discussed previously. We would do a thorough investigation of all the different products evolved with your music. Often the artist is very helpful with information of different usages he/she has found on his/her own. Once this information is collected and our plan is in place we contact the label for a date to begin the audit usually at their place of business.
Some audits can take several months to complete. This depends on the complexity of the audit and the reports that must be located. Upon completion of the audit we will supply you with a written detailed report of our findings. At that point we will get together meet with you, your manager or attorney to discuss our strategy of dealing with the label or publisher for your maximum benefit.
